The Audacity of the spiritually crippled Christians who pray to Dr. God for “The Sake of Others.”

by Kenny St.pierre

Throughout my life I have met and witnessed some rather ill people: There are those who are deeply afflicted by mental trials. There are those who suffer severe physical impairments. Others are profoundly paralytic from emotional causes. And then there are those who are gravely disconnected spiritually.

Now the degree at which one is afflicted is of utmost importance. For the significance of one's mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual crippling is indicative of the degree of treatment one requires.

For instance, a person in need of a heart, lung, or liver transplant is obviously more seriously ill than another, who's troubles may consist of a cold or an arthritic flare-up. Likewise, any human who is admitted to a mental facility is undoubtedly more confused and helpless than one who is experiencing a temporary depression due to the loss of a loved one. Therefore, my observation correlates to: The amount of treatment one seeks or encounters is equivalent to their pain and suffering. This is not always true, but it is a high majority of the time.

I have always admired those who have had the courage to accept and treat their mental, physical, emotional, and/or spiritual ailments, without self-pity, self-defeating attitudes, or a preaching voice to others who may be anguished from the same ills. However, a recurring theme I have found throughout my adult years is the lecturing of the most spiritually arrogant "patients" - the so-called Christian.

Too often these "unearthly" people seem to forget that they are indeed sick with no cure, yet most often than not, and usually only after a short period of time, they will vow their new found spiritual change as though they have been personally cured by only having to pursue a fresh belief in God. And in the process they have declared themselves suitable for speeches on how others should seek God's ways. Sometimes even insisting they've been authorized by God as a healer - for those who they deem as immoral and unprincipled.

It is their pride that makes them believe themselves worthy to "fix" another. It is their affliction of pride that allows them the luxury to conceive a dream that they have a direct pipeline to the Christian God which will help or heal others at their command.

Let me make it clear. Those who seek the most treatment are usually the most ill! Any human who prays, talks to, and seeks God's help daily, is beyond question the most spiritually convalescent. So I ask, How can those who are the most spiritually impaired be in a position to help those who are just as equally or more damaged? Can a person suffering from schizophrenia help another with their schizophrenia? Can a person distressed from daily shots of insulin help cure another from their struggle with Diabetes? Has one heart patient been able to cure another with the same illness through prayer when they can not heal themselves?

It is only the pride of the most spiritually afflicted Christian who has the audacity to "think" they have found God, are healed, and have won enough of his favor to pray for the woes of others. The more you pray to God the more likely you suffer from spiritual bankruptcy, just as an alcoholic needs their daily dose of AA meetings for fear of relapsing. The spiritually bankrupt suffers the same fate as the alcoholic - neither will ever be cured! They both have to fight their disease "a day at a time" FOREVER.

Would a Diabetic need daily shots of insulin if their sugar levels were naturally balanced? Would a person require open heart surgery if their cardiovascular test were solid? Do people with a clean bill of mental health go to the doctors seeking medications? Do people who are principled and morally sound need a God? Why then I wonder, do people who claim to be "reborn" and in sync with God's healing ways pray every day, if they are cured and cleared by God and seeking favor for others? How can those who pray for daily help and direction for themselves, help others if they are so spiritually deficient they can not live without their own prayers (medication)? What legless human can run a race for another if they are bound to a wheelchair? What uneducated person can teach those a subject that requires intense study? What man suffering from cystic fibrosis can cure another man's lungs when they're own lungs are similarly damaged? Why do Christians pray for others who are quite moral and principally sound on the basis that they don't believe in their God, when it is obvious THEY are the one's who are spiritually sick?  Do Diabetes patients pray or preach to non-Diabetics that they should seek treatment for ailments they don't have?

I personally suffer from deep blood thrombosis of the lower extremities, and am on blood thinners for the rest of my life. How can I help my 21 year old daughter, who is suffering from the same ailment as me, when I can not cure myself? Again, how can a Christian who admits spiritual failure on a daily basis and seeks God's help, have the power to help others with their spiritual needs? They can't! They are too weak. But their PRIDE tells them they can. They have an incessant need to tell others how spiritually impoverished they are because it gives them a feeling of superiority. A sort of, "I know something you don't know" notion of arrogance.

If you find yourself praying, writing, and/or talking about God daily then you are among the most spiritually destitute, and thus unfit to pray for others. It is your pride that makes you believe otherwise, and pride is the nucleus of all spiritual suffering. To pray for another is to display your spiritual pride and arrogance publicly. For you have declared yourself better than them.

Alcoholics have a saying, "Alcoholics are people who can be down in the gutter, and still look down on everyone else." That saying should include Christians who proudly pray for others who don't need or ask for their help, while their spirits are clearly in the gutter.

John Lennon wrote in his song God, "God is a concept, by which we measure our pain."  In other words, the more pain you have - the more you need God.  It's when you no longer need God that you realize you are free from your pain.

Hey Kenny, I don't know, but I'm starting to think that you don't believe in prayer.

The non local power of prayer to heal has more than been proven; you are a very hard case who reminds me of ME some twenty years ago when I didn't have a remote clue about our spiritual natures and the raw power of prayer.

Dark ones surely sit squarely on both your shoulders, methinks....

You do realize that you come off as a know-it-all, indicative of an intellectual snob!

You make the same mistake as all the other believers. You judge people on what they do or don't believe rather than on their character. You say, "Dark ones surely sit squarely on both your shoulders," yet you don't know me.

I have contributed to more donation boxes than I can remember. I have recently raise money for a friend with cystic fibrosis, as well as raising money for medical devices in my local schools which help children with heart problems. A month ago I took a young lady friend shopping for clothes because she has nothing, a deadbeat boyfriend in jail, and two young children at home. I have been a great Dad to my girls, and I don't steal, or cheat.

I could go on, but what would be the point if you have preconceived notions that I have a dark soul because I don't believe in prayer as you do. Apparently YOU are the one with the "dark ones" upon YOUR shoulders. Your righteousness has left you blind!

Try this for an insight: A person DOES NOT NEED A GOD OR PRAYER IN ORDER TO BE A GOOD HUMAN. I am a much better man without prayer, than the pedophile priest who pray before the congregations.

If one is deeply soul thirsty and has found a cool fount that slakes that deep thirst why is it wrong to direct, avail others to also drink deeply?
Diseases shared and the blind leading the blind just does not metaphorically apply to the gift of faith. It is, after all, like musical talent, a gift.
It is wonderful and elevating to know that people like you can indeed do truly good things without the vaguest notion that everything that you privately do and privately think is being watched and gauged and weighed.
Most religious and spiritual people are ALWAYS  self consciously aware of those omnipresent eyes and assaying scales.
Although I admit that I often do unintentionally sound like a pompous ass, when it comes to the sinister spirit world around us, here, and the better dimensional one after physical death that most of us go to, I am obnoxious in my evidence and certainty and must always contradict people like you who speak against such unseen truths.
In this regard, I assure you that  you are flailing about here and elsewhere at others and always angry, in the dark and with your eyes closed.

*** I'm not saying seeking help when ill is wrong. The point I make is against those who pray, believe they've found a cure for their spiritual defects, and then "preach" and "pray" for me, who is not spiritually dead. It's arrogant and presumptuous!

Diseases and the blind leading the blind just does not apply to the gift of faith.

*** What is faith? A belief that says, "I'm not sure," and nothing more.

*** It's more like I HAVE. But I am getting better. Before I came to SearchWarp I was on Google groups / Atheism vs Christianity. There, people insult and throw around the four letter word like a frisbee. No one cares! Then I came to SearchWarp, and it took me a while to realize these people were more reserved and less tolerant of such behavior. Like I said - I'm learning to zip up and respect others here . I'm only human, and constantly learning!

and always angry,

*** I'm not always angry...I'm only angry at the articles that I feel are bull! There are many articles I read which I compliment the writer, namely John Sammon, who I feel is a tell-it-like-it-is-kinda-guy. I have never written to him angrily because he makes sense. I'm angry at those who pray for me like they are above me. I will match their arrogance every time.

No.

Faith is a deeply held conviction that we are not our bodies any more than we are  our clothes or our cars ; faith is the gift of positive conviction held deeply that one is pure spirit, held in a body, that precisely like our clothing and our cars, we step out of.

"Faith is a deeply held conviction that we are not our bodies..."

That's just a BELIEF Paul! There is no evidence in what you say.

Besides, we ARE our bodies. Without the physical brain there is no personality, movement, speech, creativity, thoughts, ideas, etc. etc. Without our physicality - we have no existence outside of the energy which makes life possible.

A ghost is an electromagnetic energy mist/ fog which retains a memory and sense of accumulated self identity;as energy cannot be destroyed or created, simply shifted  after death of our physical body we reside in the world of mind and are very much alive.
Minds-spirits like yours always suffer entrapment on the Earthly plane after their death; because they are experiencing full consciousness they thus refuse to believe that they have died and persist as totally ignorant and trapped ghosts.
In one erroneous sentence, in one fell swoop you make a logical stab attempt to negate the historical accumulated evidences of OBEs(out of body experiences), NDEs( near death experiences), ghost documentations, demonic possession documentations, regressive hypnosis past life recall documentations and psychic trance medium communications documentations simply because you live behind your five senses and appear trapped in your flesh.
You should be enlightened to the contrary not to be contrary.

*** How can they not know they are dead if they are conscious and without body? If they retain consciousness without body, then they would undoubtedly know they were dead. How is it a human can become unconscious with a blow to the head and not have a clue to its identity during their unconscious state, yet an electromagnetic mist without a physical head can maintain consciousness and a sense of identity?

*** If there is all this documentation and proof, as you say, then why would you need FAITH? Faith is to believe in something without proof. You seem to be contradicting yourself.

You should be enlightened to the contrary not to be contrary.

*** NO!  I'm questioning the validity of what you claim.  You should be glad to have someone who is willing to probe and challenge.  You seem offended.  Why?

Christianity can be insanity when taken to psychological extremes. My dad used to sit in the parking lot and read the paper when mom and I were attending mass. I thought he was irreligious. But his genius is just beginning to dawn on me.

Kenny, sounds like you would be real interested in reading my article on Searchwarp "Pray For Others Lest You Sin." I am sure you will want to compliment it when done. It will be only one of several "pleasant" (a little sarcasm here) comments I have received on Searchwarp over time. I just delete them and go on. You can do that when you are arrogant like me - right?

Kenny - I just wish every religious zealot/and/or right wing religious patriot would read this, though most of them don't read or think.

What's always amused me is how holier-than-thou enthusiasts violate everything their religion is supposed to represent in promtoting that religion. Use religion as a club to pound non-believers, use it to feel superior and part of a select club. Use it to promote a political agenda. Use it to amass money and fame. Use it to abuse small boys. The tables of the money changers have not been overturned.

Great work on this column.

Wow! I just ventured over here from another article that you had recently wrote, to see what other words of wisdom you might convey. Your articulate honesty is amazing, and I am humbled by your work. Bet you scare the $%&*@$%& out of a bunch of people, or at least they are afraid to look that closely at themselves.
