Karma, Beliefs, and the Limitations They Incur.

" The Problem : Our beliefs/habits when taken literally become our reality. We were taught or received our beliefs from some kind of authority: Parents, teachers, law, the religious, etc. - all agenda driven.
The Solution : I know it's imperative for me to question all my beliefs/habits and therefore all authority." By: Lance Rennka, Ed.D. From: Our Beliefs Are Our Limitations!
Karma attempts to explain why good and bad happen. According to the law of karma all suffering is deserved. The unfairness of the world and it's seeming random distribution of good and evil, are only an apparition: Any child devoured by leukemia deserves their fate, as did the millions of Jews killed by the Nazis for the evil they must have done in the past.
I muse two ideas which I know are not extraordinarily original, but nonetheless need to be asked.
1) Throughout history, did all those who were slaughtered in masses commit the same crimes at the same time in past lives in the same era? And 2) I wonder how the young child who suffers and dies of leukemia can have the opportunity to do right. If karma were real, what would be the purpose of the child's existence since they didn't live long enough to rectify past wrongs?
According to Rennka, "Because beliefs have become habits to which we automatically react, our beliefs become our limitations ."
Think about that! To believe is not to be a being of higher intellect, but rather a confined and narrow-minded organism who waste much energy on the unprovable. A sort of thriftless thinker who discards and assassinates truth at the hands of belief's smoking gun.
" Karma is a law for sheep. Christians wonder did Adam and Eve have navels; Hindus wonder did the first beings have karma?" Annonymous
Why do so many place belief before fact? It's my experience that intelligent people are so because they rely on facts and proof. Any idiot can have a belief - There is no work required for one to believe. Ya don't need no ev-a-dense. The necessary research it takes to know the truth and to undo the opinions thrust upon us is too overwhelming for most - thus their submission to ignorance.
" Our beliefs/habits create our lifestyle (all we experience). However, nothing has meaning except the meaning we give it. The meanings we give to our experiences come from our beliefs. If we change how we look at things (through our beliefs/habits), the things we look at change. As we have experiences, we give them meaning and that meaning is a result of our beliefs/habits. Because we keep getting the same results as our beliefs, those beliefs are reinforced - giving us confirmation they're true. And there in lies our dilemma - how do we breakout of the vicious circle of deception and limitations created by our beliefs . . . taught to us by others with agendas?" Rennka
If a child were given a short life to suffer for a past wrong, wouldn't that repudiate the idea of karma? Who would benefit from the child's affliction and death? Certainly not the parents, friends, or doctors! Doesn't each wrong need an equal right for karma to balance correctly? With each Jew's death an equivalent of desensitized murderers was needed to account for the law of karmic justice, no? For karma to work it needs equal acts of evil and good, therefore I assume the Jews were punished for their past life crimes by the good Germans, who in turn became evil by their acts to the Jews and will one day be disciplined in a future life by others who will be considered good, but who by their acts against the Germans will then become the new bad guys and so on.
THE CONCEPT IS HUMOROUSLY INSANE and a great waste of brain cells!! I'm sure I will receive comments by the many believers who will take great measures to explain to me how karma works, so as to avoid the chore of cleaning up their mind's toilet of imbecilic beliefs.
Here are a few more beliefs for those who wish to continue their mind's voyage to the land of illusion.
It's bad luck to walk under a ladder.
This came from the early Christian belief that a leaning ladder formed a triangle with the wall and ground. You must never violate the Holy Trinity by walking through a triangle, lest you be considered in league with the devil. (And you all know what good Christians did to people they suspected of being in league with the devil.)
Beware of Friday the Thirteenth.
Those who know about these things, inform us that Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden on a Friday, Noah's flood started on a Friday, and Christ was crucified on a Friday. Christians also noted that twelve witches plus one devil are present at Satanic ceremonies so Friday and 13 make a deadly combination.
God Bless You.
During the sixth century, it was customary to congratulate people who sneezed because they were expelling evil from their bodies. Later, when a great plague took hold of Europe, and people began sneezing violently, the Pope passed a law. Since sneezing meant that the person was going to die of plague, people were required to bless the sneezer.
Don't spill the salt.
Although some people believe that Judas spilt salt during the last supper, this claim can't be proven. Salt was a very precious expensive commodity in the middle ages. It was also used for medicinal purposes. If you spilled any, you must immediately throw it over your left shoulder to strike the nasty spirits in the eye, thus preventing sickness.
Wear a St. Christopher Medal when you travel. Historians don't believe there ever was a Saint Christopher.
Black cats are evil.
In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Bast, was a black female cat. Christian priests wanted to wipe out all traces of other religions so convinced their ignorant followers to destroy the evil demons that were black cats. While they were at it, they destroyed the kindly little old ladies who cared for the cats believing them to be witches.
Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home.
It is bad luck to kill a ladybug because it represents the Virgin Mary.
Pie In The Sky.
Of course, this means to search for the impossible dream but it originated in the early 1900's. A famous labor organizer named Joe Hill was extremely critical of the clergy's treatment of slaves. He wrote a tune called 'The Preacher and the Slave" accusing the clergy of making false promises of a better life in heaven while people starved on earth. The song goes: 'Work and pray, live on hay. You'll get pie in the sky when you die. That's a lie!'
Skin Of Your Teeth.
This saying means to barely escape from a harrowing situation. It comes from Job 19:20, where God inflicts all sorts of terrible things on one of those who love him. Poor Job had all his animals stolen, his children die, his house collapse and his body covered with sores. Job has this to say; "My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth."
Fleshpot.
Today 'fleshpot' describes decadence. In the time of Moses, it was a large pot in which to boil meat. Somehow, preachers managed to change the meaning to scare their flock about 'sins of the flesh'.
To make a scapegoat.
The poor scapegoat gets the punishment for everyone else's mistakes. God condoned this cruelty to animals in Leviticus 16:7-10 "And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other for the scapegoat." The scapegoat got to escape, and carry the tribe's sins into the wilderness, to be eaten by some animal instead of being offered alive as a sacrifice for the Lord.
Christmas and the Star of Bethlehem.
There is no historical evidence that Christ was born on December 25th. December 25th was officially adopted by Bishop Liberius of Rome in 354. December 25th occurs during the rainy season in the Holy Land, so it is highly unlikely that shepherds would be outside in their pastures. The Hayden Planetarium in New York recreated the heavens as they were in the time that Christ was allegedly born. Although nothing spectacular happened in the skies on the date of Christ's birth, the Planetarium went back to the year 6 B.C. On that date, there were three stars in close proximity which created a spectacularly bright beacon, which may account for the stories of the Star of Bethlehem. The most plausible reason that December 25 was chosen as a day to celebrate Christ's birth was that the Christian fathers were trying to compete with another growing religion, Mithraism - the worship of a sun god - whose holy day was also December 25.
Easter
The name "Easter' derives from Eostre, the Anglo-Saxon dawn goddess. She was traditionally honored at the beginning of spring. Easter wasn't celebrated in North America until after the Civil War when religious leaders decided that the country needed a holiday which stressed rebirth.

Top-level comments on this article: (9 total)Amazing Kenny! Open eyes are a gift to behold. Good day.Good day to you too sir! And thank you.
Is there anything in this world that you truly believe kenny?- WHY do you believe it? I'm not talking about any of those silly superstitions.
Because 10,000 people believe something is wrong or right- will not change whatever it really is. Why do we know that is true?
I enjoyed your article immensely, Kenny, thanks!I don't believe in karma as punishment either. It makes as little sense to me as the Catholic concept of heaven and hell and purgatory. I couldn't ever swallow that babies who died before they were baptized weren't allowed to go to heaven, but had to stay forever in this horrible place in between.I've often wondered where "skin of your teeth" comes from!Thank you Jennifer. You are an intelligent woman because you question things. We need more like you.
I agree that everyone in the physical world and life in subtle and not-life is based on logic and science of action and reaction. This is called theory of cause and effect of karma. It is given in the Vedas of Hinduism which is more than six thousand years old civilization.
It is true that karma is a law for sheep for those who do not understand its inner meaning that works beyond the wisdom of thought and wisdom of civilization and the age of experience and wisdom language and belief. Science agrees that man micro-organism is based on action and reaction. Similarly, all kinds of life have knowledge with which he lives his life. Many cultures have different languages and genres to life. The science of cause and effect that works in our body cell and everything in the universe in unity is called the science of karma. It cannot be expressed in any language, so you cannot unnderstand what is going on in your mind while sleeping.
Then interpret the subtle karma seed can not be learned from others in any language. It is the science of emotions beyond your language and you can not express true emotion good or bad. If you really want to know your subtle seed karma, you must enter your consciousness; it is bound to explode himself. It is the law of nature. To enter into your consciousness, you must have a certain karma seeds begin to explode inside corporate travel. Different civilization defines good karma according to the wisdom of civilization. Our wisdom of thinking does not allow us to do something that is considered bad karma in our consciousness.
Example:
Wisdom of the thought of civilization Christen believes that the cow is very good food for health. Thus, it does kill or eat the cow and Does not feel any bad karma or immoral. Wisdom of the thought of Hindu civilization considers that the cow is the animal most pious, he can not kill or eat the cow. To kill or eat cow continues immoral or bad karma in his consciousness.
No karma is good or bad, everything is a freak of nature. Our wisdom of thought continues to do so. Our attachment and detachment continues to give us the experience of pleasure or pain in our wisdom of thought, but our conscious life has no pain or sorrow. He remains calm in all situations in any kind of life anywhere, any time situations. Also reflected in the conscience, continue to be good or bad karma to begin the inner journey.
Parents and the civilization in which karma has placed were given by nature as most worthy emotions accumulated in our consciousness, whose fruits we have to experience in this life updated with our egoism and wisdom of thoughts. Inner journey can be started from any state of mind. Faith, desire and devotion to travel within censoriousness are important. Of course, this means the removal of the external world; some valleys are to be planted in the wisdom of moral thought. Buddhism and others have many guidelines.
A century ego , we were not understanding interent ,It does not mean internet theory was not existing at that time. If you do not understand Karma, it does not mean that karma theory do not exist.
We are tiny part of naure, and have come to experience limited in limited life within the framework of our karma
Science or wisdom of thought or belief can not be normalized and considered the best of all to begin the inner journey karma. Method or path or religions are techniques to help eliminate the sense of arrogance and thoughts which is the entry point of the inner journey to understand the true karma.
I am just an imbecile. Freedom of creativity is open ended and was accepted. Karma is actually universal accountability, not punishment and the entire process is infinitely complex as it spans all our many past lives; thus what seems inexplicable will have an answer in the distant past. The records of the thoughts, actions and intents are stored in the Akashic Records, or Hall of Records. Complete forgiveness can dissolve it, the final release from its bondage is shanti or nirvana.
I have to wonder why you are so angry. Does it matter if others believe what you do not, why would it? Why is there any need to be rude about the beliefs of others as there is complete freedom to believe whatever we choose.
It is a well written and thought provoking article but, well, rather angry. I hope the toilet I speak from is well flushed, anyway."I have to wonder why you are so angry. Does it matter if others believe what you do not, why would it? Why is there any need to be rude about the beliefs of others as there is complete freedom to believe whatever we choose."
*** I'm angry because people don't keep their beliefs to themselves. Those who believe in such crap build churches, dominate politics, avoid taxes, preach, protest, rape children and get away with it, and all those things affect all of us. I don't have any beliefs, therefore I don't impose my will and illusion on others. Everyone benefits!
Kenny, You write interesting
Any IDIOT can have a belief - there is no work needed to believe.
Many sages of India shows how the effects of karma us. Until we are thinking of doing something in the upper layers of the mind, our bodily life can not perform any action in the physical world. How do we intend to do work, he recive the reverse reaction in the subtle layers of the inner spirit, called the pure life (Consciousness). The seed karma is good or bad intent planted in our consciousness and with the passage of time and time rght, he brings a situation to experience its fruits (karma) in the life continues. I do belive this karma, even if you call me Idiot. You can call your usual impulsiveness.
You may disagree, as I disagee with you. You have right to decide what is right for yourself as,I have right to decide what is right myself and not for your self.
Hey, Kenny, something we agree upon. Thanks for writing this one! GRIN
Who has the time to look all this information up? It seems you have a lot of time on your hands!! LOL. Thank you for explaining these old wise tales we have grown up with. I will say though, I had 3 black cats and they were little evil critters but I loved them anyway!! You should volunteer at a retirement home and read your explanations of these tales. They will eat you up because they grew up with these tales and adamantly still believe in them. Looking forward to more of your opinions. Remember though, people will believe in what they want no matter how much anyone explains, proves, etc. It's how we get through this walk of life. Chow!!"Who has the time to look all this information up? It seems you have a lot of time on your hands!! LOL."
*** If you knew anything about web sites, and copy & paste Darlene you would know it takes about one whole minute to display such info.
